Bountiful Easter Basket

An Easter Thought
          by Janet  Abbott

 I never saw the bunny
tho I tried with all my might.
But I found a pretty basket
filled with flowers and eggs so bright.
And as the joy of Easter
filled my heart and soul that day,
I thought about the first one
on a hill so far away.
Where Jesus died upon a cross
 to wash our sins away,
then rose up from the dead, so we
 could beat death too someday.
The pretty eggs a symbol of
 life's circle, never ending.
And the flowers mark the springtime
 death defeated, life beginning.
 So as you color eggs
and gather flowers bright and new,
 Remember how it all began,
and how much He loved you!
